As we get closer to launching Blog Success 2.0 everyone is busy creating content (there will be loads of new videos and audios included) and rearranging the site to make sure it becomes more accessible to everyone.

We have had a number of new members join this week – so welcome to them – and I have been in the forum as always answering questions whenever I can along with other Blog Success members.

For now there really isn’t much to report until the major change takes place and the new Blog Success is launched but I will be back with plenty of news once that starts to happen. If you are not a member of Blog Success you can take a look here http://www.blogsuccess.com and take advantage of the trial period.

Diane

The last two weeks have been busy with our continued efforts to improve the training area inside Blog Success.

Blog Success 2.0 is due to launch in the next 4-6 weeks so we are eager to get everything running as it should be. The training area will include even more audio and video tutorials, allowing you to learn on the go plus the forum will also give members an even better opportunity to ask all the questions they need to about their training, technical issues and anything else.

Having a place to come and sort out anything technical has been one of the big plus points of the Blog Success forums along with the opportunity to receive constructive feedback on your blog.

Over the next few weeks, now that the content has been moved and updated, the actual inside of the members area will begin to change and once that is complete the only thing left to do will be to launch the new Blog Success 2.0.

A short report today as I am busy with chats and new updates that are coming to Blog Success soon. It is a really exciting time and in an effort to continually improve the learning experience for members Blog Success is about to receive a new look by the end of this year.

I can’t tell you too much about it right now but it will include more details on how to make money with your blog in less time than it takes you to make money by building an authority presence online, because becoming an authority isn’t something that happens in a few months, but when it does it is sooooo worth it! :)

If you are an expert it is my personal opinion that Blog Success is THE place to learn how to take your expertise and turn yourself into an authority in your niche but the training is not just for trained professionals, it is also for mom and pop businesses, parents looking to bring in some extra income and anyone really who wants to leverage the power of the internet.

It’s time for me to go connect with another member of Blog Success (as a member you can book time to speak with me via Skype) but before I go I want to wish you an awesome weekend, have fun whatever you are doing and remember to keep connecting – it’s what being online is all about

This week has seen activity in the forum pick up as people return from holiday and get stuck into making activity happen on their blog.

Rusty Moore over at Fitness Black Book reported great success with signups for his new free giveaway, building a list of 50,000 after using one of Jack Humphrey’s techniques available to all Blog Success members. He had 3,000 opt-ins the first seven days and is now holding a consistent 120-150 per day. The great news is the conversation rate he is receiving with a massive 80-90% for the first few days and maintaining 60-65% now. Imagine giving away a free product and having 60-65% of those people buying your product offer. What difference would that make to your finances right now???? :)

Well done Rusty!!!

The newsletter was sent out this week too and the focus is all on leveraging the material you already have by repurposing content.

Repurposing content is all about taking something you already have e.g. an article and turning it into content in different formats – like an audio, or a video, use it as a blog post, or post it to your remote blogs. The whole newsletter focused on providing members with practical tips to use immediately which would in effect double the content they already have.

It has been a great week in Blog Success and if you are not a member you might want to give it some serious consideration! Your Blog’s success depends on it :)

Well it is finally time to get back to seriously looking at your blog as a business. Thanks Giving is on the way and so is Christmas and the best time to think about what you will promote for these holiday seasons is now – not two months from now!

Have you even began to think about how Christmas might factor into your plans right now? If you haven’t I would give it some serious thought and if you are not a member of Blog Success now is the time to take the plunge because it will give you enough time to learn what you have to do to improve your current blog and if you do not have a blog you can get yourself ready for valentines…. yes I do mean February 2010!

Future planning is essential so that you know what you focus on now and what will be bringing in your income so start thinking and remember you get to have a 20 minute “chat” with me to help you get focused.

Its summer break and loads of people are right now enjoying life in the sun someplace (hopefully) or at least taking a break from the usual routine of work.

When people return at the end of August the usual thing to do is to complain about going back to work and think about what alternatives are available. This is when people turn to how they can make some extra money or change career for those who blog about how to work from home or how to make money online this is an ideal time for you to make sure your blog is in order and ready.

Plus for those of you who run theme blogs Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner so even more reason to work on the SEO of your blog to make sure that when people are looking for gifts they find you!

That is the message I passed on to members last week and I thought I would share with you too :)

We had an awesome webinar this week with content creation expert Anissa Wardell who spoke about something many new bloggers find difficult and that is content development. The trouble comes when people do not have a plan and Anissa took everyone through exactly how to build a content development plan which was excellent.

There are some great changes coming by the winter this year because at Blog Success we are continually looking at how we improve and provide the best quality service to members. It is my personal opinion that Blog Success exists purely to create professional authority bloggers and it can take a little while to develop your authority but it is well worth it as one member announced in the forum. He is looking at selling is blog for a very high 5 figure sum (over $60,000) after building it based on what he learnt at Blog Success. He didn’t advertise or try to make money but spent his time building his authority in his niche.

Great stuff :)

Busy week doing a lot of helping out new members so not much to report, nothing new happening right now at Blog Success so I am spending all my time helping people as they come through the door…… I want to ask you something….

What’s the point of having a blog if it isn’t doing anything for you and why are people so “afraid” of research?

That is the question I seem to be asking new members a lot lately, either one of those or both questions because I seem to hit the same resistance. No one wants to research their niche, they are in a hurry to get their blog up and get going so all they want to do is buy a domain and do this thing!

Unfortunately without knowing why you are putting your blog up you will find that eventually you will run out of things to write about. From all the work I have done with new bloggers if any of them say they can’t think what to write about I ask them who they are reaching out too (target market) and all of them to date do not have a strong idea. They have an idea of their niche but not their buyer – yet it is the buyer in that niche who will be getting their wallet out so you need to bring them to you.

When you know…..

  • what your blog is there to do
  • how it is going to help
  • who it is targeting
  • …….then writing content really does become easy. In fact you soon find you have more ideas than you can handle and the best thing to do is write them out and future post them on your blog.

Research doesn’t have to be boring

I love the research part of setting up anything and I encourage people to treat it like a treasure hunt. By carrying out research you hunt for what people want on the net and when you find what they want you have found gold. You then take that gold and turn it into money for you.
It’s a well known fact that you need to “find the hungry fish” or “find the hungry market” in order to succeed and it is no different with your blog.

Call yourself a pirate and go on a treasure hunt or call yourself a detective and go searching out what people are looking for/asking about.

Go on to forums and see what questions are being asked, get yourself on amazon then search out your niche and click on their best sellers link, do the same on Barnes & Noble, use the normal keyword research tools and see how many people are searching for your idea.

    blog success

Miss out research and your blog will become a ghost town after a gold rush…… and you will have to spend five times as much energy to get visitors to your blog.

    Always remember …….

    Research = treasure = gold = millions!

No research = no readers = no one buying = frustration and time wasting

    You choose :)

Met Jack and Peter last week at Frank Garon’s list building event and we had fun. It is amazing how much information flows through people when they have a few pints of beer in them :)

I had my first beer and even managed to drink a half pint of Guinness – I’m really not a drinker so one half pint and I was just about done for! It was great to meet Blog Success members John Hutson, Bruce Bird and others who were VIP guests. Just a shame everyone went to bed so early.

    Anyway back to work….!

After a busy weekend I came back to an extra busy week with plenty of stuff to catch up on and questions in the forum which I am now caught up with. Loads of new members confused and asking the question “what is a blog?” can now read my post which I made available in the guest members training area too.

You can find it here – What Is A Blog For Beginners

    http://members.blogsuccess.com/content/what-blog-beginners

I will get round to creating a summary of the notes I took at the list building event and see if there is anything worth adding here that might help you with your business. I must admit to not spending too much time in the room as I was kinda working (and taking Jack and Peter to Camden market!) but I still got some great stuff out of being there.

Blog Success continues to enjoy an influx of new members and complete newbies to the world of blogging. We have all been busy in the forum with introductions and finding our way round the new system.

Our technical wizard DavidO provided a great video this week on using the Thesis theme, which of course is the only theme recommended and provided to Blog Success Jumpstart members and it really did help to highlight the many, many things this excellent theme can do.

Newsletter week and this month’s theme was all about creating buzz – marketing buzz with a particular emphasis on the Blog Success buzz group available to all members, which is really helping with traffic from the major social networks.

This weekend Blog Success partners Peter Lenkefi and Jack Humphrey are in London (lucky me :) ) and I am really excited about finally meeting them both in person. We will all be at the Frank Garon list building weekend so if you are going to be there definitely find me and say hello

    Until next week
    Diane

With the influx of new members needing support I think I completely missed out last Friday so will catch up on this post today.

Firstly, a continued welcome to all the new members who have put their trust in the Blog Success system. One of the comments I hear a lot in the members area is how much they value the support through our forum. Not only because all the Blog Success team are in there (yes… including Jack Humphrey and the Blog Success partners) but also because there isn’t a question “too silly” or “too basic” to ask. I always encourage members to ask away and ask often because it is the best way to shortern the learning curve. Plus you help other people who may have the same question.

Last month’s newsletter focused on the importance of list building and our next issue due out July 8th will focus on creating marketing buzz. Our buzz group continues to be tested by a few members but we could do with many more using it. Its still under beta and a little challenging but the technical team are working on improving its effectiveness.

I am still providing the now well used 20 minute chats for any member of Blog Success who needs time speaking to a “real person!”
There are a few common issues that come up with new members that I help to answer quickly

    1. Knowing where to start – believe it or not despite having a welcome video and getting started guide people still join and wonder where to start! It really is just a case of wondering “what am I supposed to do” rather than where do I start because as soon as I let people know what to do first they go ahead and do it. The first place to start is always the welcome video!

    2. Knowing what to blog about – I have never met a member who had no idea whatsoever about what to blog about. Instead they tend to have a vague idea but are not sure whether it is something they could write about, or they have a bunch of different ideas and have no clue which one to pick.
The free 20 minute chats are usually long enough to empower people to make that decision. As much as members want me to answer that question for them I flatly refuse because 99.9% of the time they already know the answer – they just have this self talk in their head that they believe which says “you really have no clue what to do!” A quick conversation with me and we “kill” that inner voice and start getting down to decision making.

    3. Not having enough time. It always amazes me that anyone would really use this excuse for anything. I even wrote an article about the “not having enough time” excuse – for me, one of the weakest excuses there is going – and added it for free members to gain access to. So if you are not a member and want to read it just visit the main blog success site.

Whatever we want in life making time for it is the only way to get it – giving in to excuses and reasons will just keep you where you are now. (That’s what I keep telling myself when I really don’t want to hit the gym LOL)

    4. Writing content. Blog Success has a huge section on content development, writing a content development plan and preparing your content even BEFORE you put your blog up! It is one of the biggest fears of new bloggers – that they might run out of things to say – and so we have made sure that could never possibly happen. Plus the insights and training by our content development expert Anissa Wardell provides an endless stream of ideas, inspiration and tips to help anyone with “bloggers block” :)

Blog Success is one of the most powerful systems on the web for serious bloggers looking to become professionals and I am so very proud to be serving the company and it’s members. The one thing I would love to do is more live training and as I think about how best to make that happen I always welcome feedback about what you need if you are a member of Blog Success.
